Running London in aid of Refuge

Tim Ashton, co-director of Marlborough-based web and video company Mole Productions will be taking part in his first London Marathon on Sunday, April 26, joining 34,999 other pavement-pounders around the 26-mile course.
It won't be Tim's first marathon though. He has completed the Paris Marathon twice, last time in a respectable 4:26:23, accompanied by his cousin Colm Coffey, with whom he will be running the London Marathon on behalf of Refuge.
But he aims to shave 20 minutes off his personal best, in order to beat the time set by his wife and business partner Nicola at the London Marathon in 2004, of four hours and nine minutes.
Tim's training regime sees him distance running two or three times a week, and recently he took part in The Grizzly in Devon, a gruelling 20-mile cross country race through rivers and bogs, along beaches and up and down steep cliff faces.
"We had hailstones and were blasted with strong winds. At the finish line the fire brigade were on hand to hose us down as we were all so filthy," he said
Tim, a member of Marlborough Running Club, started cross country running at school. "Back then running the London Marathon was an ambition of mine, and I'm delighted it will finally be fulfilled," he said.
